The Product

Built for chain control season

Single square-link ladder chains sized for the most common drive tire on the road. Zinc-plated steel resists the corrosion that CalTrans road salt and Sierra slush throw at it all winter. Every bag is a complete set for one axle position: two chains, ready to hang. And because we contract directly with the manufacturer in volume, our everyday price is a wholesale price — the same high-end commercial quality, without the distributor markup you pay everywhere else.

Know your chain control levels

When CalTrans posts chain controls on I-80, US-50, or SR-88, commercial vehicles are the first required to chain up. Getting turned around at the checkpoint costs you hours; carrying chains costs you $75.

Requirement 1 · R-1

Chains or snow tires

Chains required on vehicles over 6,000 lbs GVW. Autos and pickups may pass with M+S tires — your tractor can't.

Requirement 2 · R-2

Chains on all, except 4WD

The most common condition on Donner and Echo Summit. Commercial rigs chain the drive axle — this is the condition our chains are built for.

Requirement 3 · R-3

Chains on everything

Rare — the road is usually closed first. If you run mountain routes all winter, chains live in your side box, period.

⚠ Before you buy — verify your fitment
  • Confirm your tire size on the sidewall reads 295/75R22.5. Not sure? Call us and read it to us — we'll confirm in 30 seconds.
  • Check wheel-well and suspension clearance per your vehicle manufacturer's guidance before installing chains.
  • Maximum recommended speed with chains installed: 30 mph. Remove chains on bare pavement.
  • Always follow your vehicle and tire manufacturer's instructions. Chains are traction devices, not a substitute for safe winter driving.
